Baby Hayden and her mom came to see me to celebrate her first birthday with a cake smash session. Her mom is celebrating Hayden’s  birthday party at a local zoo, so she requested an animal farm theme cake smash. I was so excited about it, that I had no problem ordering this backdrop from one of my favorite vendors Fancy Fabric & Props. They shipped this order just in time for my session. Excellent customer service.  The adorable cake was made and delivered to my studio by the super talented Maria from Be Sweet by Maria. I love supporting local small businesses run by moms like me. She is an amazing pastry chef and a friend, and I recommend her constantly. Her cakes are not only super pretty, they are DELICIOUS.

Hayden was super smiley and happy for the beginning of the session. She wasn’t too excited about the cake, but it is OK. We got a lot of great expressions from her, and I can’t wait to see how her mom displays these photos at the party.

My cake smash sessions take place in my Naperville studio. One year cake smash sessions will have a little bit of everything.  First, we start out with a clean baby wearing a favorite outfit and take a formal one year picture. Then, we will change baby into his cake smash outfit, I will take photos of the beautiful cake and then, lets the fun begging. This part of the session will go by faster than you think. In just a few minutes that beautiful cake will be covering the floor and the baby!
